cox graae + spack architects resurrected Founder’s Hall at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School after a devastating fire in July of 1993. Visitation is the nation’s oldest Catholic school for young women. Founder’s Hall, built in 1873, serves as a gateway for the campus. cg+s reconstructed the Victorian National Landmark building within its salvaged exterior masonry walls achieving a balance between preserving the historic façade and implementing new modern interior spaces. The first floor features replication of the original reception parlors while the upper floors house new classrooms and administrative spaces.
