cox graae + spack architects, as part of a Joint Venture, designed the new 10-story, 474 bed undergraduate South Hall on The George Washington University campus. The new residence hall addresses pressure from the surrounding community and the zoning commission to provide more housing within campus boundaries. Designed around current market trends, South Hall features apartment-style living, with typical units offering four bedrooms around an open common room. Building amenities include a student lounge, meeting and study rooms, outdoor courtyard space, and below-grade parking. The LEED Gold certified residence hall features abundant daylighting, an enhanced building envelope and intelligent building systems.
