cox graae + spack architects designed the new Maintenance Complex for facilities upkeep on the grounds of the Arlington National Cemetery. Army Corps of Engineers selected cg+s to design these new buildings to provide facilities to house maintenance equipment and workspace to keep the ceremonial grounds pristine. The design for the complex separates the utilitarian operations from the contemplative world of the cemetery. Individual pavilions house carpentry, electric, mechanical, paint, and turf shops, which all opening to a work yard. The project was reviewed and approved by the Commission of Fine Arts, the National Capitol Planning Commission and a number of other Federal and State design review agencies.
