DC Chancellor Visits the Newly Modernized Hendley Elementary School

August 27, 2013.

Last week, Chancellor Kaya Henderson toured the results of this summer’s modernization projects at six DC public schools.  Henderson approved an aggressive plan to renovate these academic buildings over the short summer break in order to upgrade learning environments and align the facilities with current DC Educational program criteria.  cox graae + spack architects led the design effort at Hendley Elementary School in the District’s 8th Ward.  Along with their construction partner MCN Build, cox graae + spack replaced building systems, installed new windows and elevated the general quality and character of public spaces and the educational environment.

Bill Spack, the Principal Architect in Charge on the project, reviewed specific details of the effort to the enthusiastic approval of Henderson.  The firm is committed to design as a catalyst for positive change and was pleased to continue its efforts on behalf of DC public school students at Hendley.
