August 26, 2013. Members of the cox graae + spack architects team pitched in this past Saturday beautifying the grounds and interior of Jefferson Academy in the 8th annual DCPS Beautification Day. The day is dedicated to sprucing up one of the District’s schools to create a warm welcome for students returning to classes in the fall.
Volunteers for the event were involved in a number of tasks helping teachers and staff get organized for the 2013-14 school year. Mural painting, weed removal, flower planting, classroom decorating and general organizing were some of the activities volunteers took part in.
Shea Hasan, Joanna Schmickel (pictured right), and Tom Wheeler (pictured right & below) rolled up their sleeves doing their part to get Jefferson Academy ready for students. cox graae + spack provides architectural services to a number of DCPS schools including, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Roosevelt High School, Woodson STEM High School, Wilson High School, Hendley Elementary School, Eastern High School and DC Scholars Stanton Elementary. The event offered the opportunity to give to the students of the District in a different but still impactful way.
