Eastern High School Earns LEED Gold

June 1, 2011. Eastern High School, a DCPS modernization and restoration project achieved in collaboration with Fanning Howey Architects, has achieved LEED Gold certification under USGBC’s LEED for Schools program. Eastern, located on Capitol Hill near RFK Stadium, was originally built in 1923, but had fallen into disrepair over the years.  cg+s handled all aspects of the design and restoration of the exterior envelope of the school, which involved cleaning and repair of brickwork, replication of the original entry awning, restoration of the original leaded-glass canopy windows, and design and installation of historically accurate replications for all 1900 windows on the 230,000 sf building.
